Things To See in Budapest III. - Margaret Island

Margaret Island (Margitsziget) is a 2.5 km long island in the middle of the Danube in central Budapest, between the two city parts, Buda and Pest. Margaret Island is one of the most beautiful open spaces in the city. In contrast to similar islands in other great cities, Margitsziget has not been built over, but has remained a huge park in the heart of Budapest. It is a popular recreational area for tourists as well as locals. There are tennis courts, public baths, historical monuments, hotels, clubs and restaurants, and a jogging track, and even a stadium, too on this tiny island. Margaret Island also offers a variety of beautiful and unique trees, flowers and plants.

Hi Viajero. Thanks for your comment. Main attractions are the beautiful capital, Budapest, with many attractions, beautiful areas, parks, buildings, statues, streets, spas, lots of pubs, discos, etc. There is everything in Budapest which you desire.

It is also worth visiting the Lake Balaton, mainly SiĆ³fok, Badacsony, Tihany cities. Or cities like Szeged, Szentendre, Debrecen, Pecs or Tokaj (world famous wine region) are also very interesting and beautiful cities. I could write some more sights, but it depends on what you want? Parties? Cities? Beaches? Cultural heritage? Folk attractions?

And when to visit? Maybe in mid- September. The temperature is still high, but already no intolerable, the tourist crowd is already not so high. At the same time, most tourist places, beaches, spas are still open.
