Awesome blinkenlight performance
At a dormitory competition in 2005 students of University of Technology and Economics in Budapest turned the dormitory building into a big dot matrix display. They created a special system which controlled the lights and set up a light in front of each windows of the dormitory. A little box turned the electricity in and out. This little box was connected to a controller computer which played the animations. The music played is an adaption of the most well-known song of the most famous Hungarian rock band, Tankcsapda.

Magdi Ruzsa - The first Hungarian world star?
Hungary in English blog has already written about Magdi Ruzsa. The reason for the new post about her is her great ESC performance in Eurovision Song Contest semi-final which dazzled viewers and critics both. Her fantastic performance was enough for the final which is held tonight.According to lots of people she is one of the best in the field. Tonight over 100 million viewers can see her and vote for her at the final of ESC.
The Hungary in English blog thinks that she does have the chance to win. First of all, her ESC performance is the second most viewed of ESC semi-final performances on YouTube, and the vast majority of commenters think that she is the best and she has the only authentic voice. They write that they will certainly vote for Magdi. Youtubers think the other singers sang cheap bubblegum pop hits which can't be compared to Magdi's voice and song.
Secondly, as we all know, people can't vote for singers from their country tonight. However, there is a high Hungarian minority in neighbouring countries. About 4,5 million Hungarians live in Serbia (where Magdi comes from), Romania, Slovakia, Ukraina, Sweden, etc. But we don't want to forecast anything. At midnight everything will turn out.
And to answer the question which was asked in the title: if even Magdi wins, it is important to mention that very few of ESC competitors have later became an international star, excluding Celine Dion or ABBA, for example.

New NOX Videoclips
It seems that you like NOX very much. Diane even demanded for more NOX clips. So for the sake of Diane, some new NOX videos.. I still think that NOX is one of the best Hungarian pop bands. Besides NOX is very popular in Hungary, as I experienced, people from abroad who get to know the group, adore them, too.

Speak, The Hungarian Rapper - The Funniest I Have Ever Seen
Speak is the most hilarious rapper I have ever seen. He is really great: his rap techique, the lyrics, the ryhmes all worth for a Grammy.. At the same time, it is important to mention that Speak's clip has never been in any Hungarian TV. Neither I, nor my friends have ever heard of him before this fantastic videoclip.

The Worst Hungarian (I think not only Hungarian..) Videoclip Ever
Since I can't make up a better description for this idontknowhat than the uploader of this video wrote, I would quote him.
"The guy is simply unskilled so don't care about him. The essence is Kiszel Tunde who is one of the strangest woman in Hungary. No. SHE IS. She thinks she is the most beautiful woman in the world, she thinks she is smart and clever and good and sexy and everything. She had had the biggest eyebrow in the world but after she done with his g*y (!) boyfriend she went to the cosmetics.

The Hungarian Golden Team
Since Hungary's national football team is currently terrible, it is good to look back to the old times when the Hungarian Golden Team was the best in the world. Hungary was the first European team which defeathed the English national team on home soil. In 1953 they stunned England with a 6-3 win at Wembley Stadium. At their next meeting in 1954 Hungary's national team was even more fantastic: they won 7-1 at England.
A Very Dru** Hungarian Man
Alc****** is a great problem in Hungary. There are thousands of people in Hungary who die because of diseases caused by al********. The amount of deaths caused by this is one of the greatest in Europe. This video showes a citizen on his way home from a pub. According to some people it is a very funny video, but someone says it is very sad and pathetic. In their opinion, this poor man shouldn't be laughed at.

Great Hungarian Music - NOX
NOX is one of the most popular Hungarian pop groups and also probably the best-known Hungarian band thanks to their Eurovision performance. They have everything to be succesful: a beautiful singer with wonderful voice, great coreography, entertaining music of high standard, Hungarian folk elements in their music. So it's no surprise that all of their records went platinum.

Magdolna Rúzsa: From Great Poverty To Be The Greatest Hungarian Singer
Magdolna Rúzsa was born in 1985 in Kishegyes, Vojvodina and lived in great poverty with her family. She was unemployed, in addition, her boyfriend left her so she had deep depression. But everything changed after he applied to the Hungarian Idol, the Megasztár. After she sang her first song it was never doubted that she will win the contest. And so was it. Now she is the greatest Hungarian singer with double-platinum record sales, and she has an ad contract with Pepsi Cola so probably she and her family will never have financial problems again. Click here for her very first and very creative videoclip.
Zoltán Gera: From D*** And A*****l A******* To The Premiership
Frankly, Hungarian football is currently terrible. Despite our glorious past, now we have bad teams and an even worse national team with some clumsy players. Maybe it will change because Hungary's young team is very succesful. But currently there are very few Hungarian footballers who are international stars. However, we have one very great player called Zoltán Gera. He is currently playing in West Bromwich Albion but he has been a target for many Premiership teams.
Gera had a very problematic childhood, he spent more time on the streets and in the gaming-room than in his home or school. He became an a****** and d*** a***** in his teenage years. His trainers, especially József Garami supported him as much as they could but it was not enough to draw him out of the deep trouble he was in. It seemed Gera would go down the sink. Then he turned to religion and it changed his life. His father and his friends helped him as well to return to the football field. At the begining he amazed everybody with his skills and he scored a lot. After his first goals he invented his well-known trademark: the handspring followed by a somersault. No question he became the favourite. He played 115 league games and scored 32 goals. He won twice both the league title and the Hungarian Cup, and not only made his way into the national team but became a key figure in the Hungarian football life.
He scored his first national goal against San Marino that was the first of his hat-trick on that game and was nominated to be the best score of the qualifier by Eurosport. Very soon he became so popular he got offers from a number of European teams. He rejected Galatasaray to play at Ferencváros, Hungary again.
The big change came in the summer of 2004 when he got married and together with his wife, Tímea they moved to Birmingham where he started his career at West Bromwich Albion. Some were sceptical, but he refuted all the doubts. He had a fantastic season. He was one of the eleven players to play on all matches and he got recognition from many professionals. He spent 2845 minutes on the field and scored 6 goals, he made a major contribution to keep his team in the Premier League.
He was nominated in many prizes: he was twice the player of the year in Hungary, he received the Hungarian Golden Ball, he was the best player of West Brom in 2005, Soccernet.com voted him into the Premiership Dream Team of season 2004/2005, etc.
Maybe his example can be followed by many young, ad**** teenagers.

The Tragic And Controversial Life of The King of The Pop
Imre Zámbó (better-known as Jimmy Zámbó) was one of Hungary's best-selling pop stars whose each album went platinum. He was often referred to in Hungary as "the king". However, despite having an unbelievable voice, not everyone loved him. He was not a handy man, nor was he a nice person. Despite these things, he was a huge star, the greatest singer in Hungary. The tickets to his concerts were always sold out long before his shows. He knew of himself how great star he was and consequently, star allures were not foreign to him. For example, according to a book of Attila Árpa, the former creative director of a Hungarian TV channel, once Árpa and Jimmy visited a bar where Jimmy felt like playing the piano. So he went to the pianist and asked him to let him play, but the pianist didn't allow it. But after Jimmy showed him his Beretta, the pianist said no problem. After playing the piano and singing, as if nothing had happened, Jimmy went back to the counter, and kept on drinking. Then he gave 250,000 Forints (about €1,000) to the pianist. At the same time, Jimmy's family and the pianist both disclaimed this story.
Zámbó Jimmy dead in January 2, 2004 at the age of 42 when, according to the official version, he accidentally shot himself in the head. He was survived by his wife and three sons.
If you have never heard his music, perhaps you won't like it at first hearing. But you have to admit that his voice is very special.

Szomszédok - The First Hungarian Soap Opera
Szomszédok (The Neighbours) was the first Hungarian soap opera. It had more than 300 episodes between 1987 and 1999. Nothing can portray better the years of the system change in Hungary than this series. If you are interested in this world and the retro-communist feeling, take a search on youtube for "Szomszédok". In 2006 it's very funny to watch The Neighbours. For example, take a look at this professional action scene. The frightening music, the elaborated fight.. As if it had been directed by John Woo.
The visual and sound effects at this scene are also very good. Very interesting that the worker after falling down six floors from a building, easily can chat to the doctor.
